During our observance of Remembrance Day, we paused to remember Allan Heaney, a member of First Baptist Church who died in Canadian service during the Second World War. His name is inscribed on the Second World War memorial plaque found on the wall of our sanctuary.
Intergenerational Church: Relationships and Belonging
A September workshop on the intergenerational church reminded participants that it was not about the multigenerational church, a church that has a variety of activities for different age groups, but about the intergenerational church, where different age groups are interactive and mix together in a variety of ways beyond coming together for worship.

When Thomas Helways and John Smyth met with Anabaptist and Mennonite leaders in the Netherlands 75 years later, they also adopted the practice of adult or believer’s baptism. They brought this practice back to England with them when they established the first Baptist church in 1612.
