The Longest Night Service (sometimes known as “Blue Christmas”) will be held in the sanctuary at 4 p.m. It is a small, reflective service held around the shortest and darkest day of the year, and is intended to provide a measure of comfort and peace in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. All are welcome, especially those who may find Christmas challenging, or who have suffered loss. We will celebrate Holy Communion.
The congregation of First Baptist Church will observe Remembrance Day as part of our regular service. Past and current members of the Canadian Armed Forces will take part.
As another way to build connection with our neighbours, the 'Four Amigos Churches' invite the community to gather with them on Thursday evening, November 6, at 7:30 pm for an evening of singing favourite hymns at St. John the Evangelist Church on Elgin Street. Congregations of First Baptist Church Ottawa, St John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Ottawa, St. Theresa Catholic Church and Knox Presbyterian welcome you!
Hymns will be selected from each of the four traditions, and together as friends in faith we will lift our voices in song and praise, to be filled with awe and wonder at God’s goodness.

Our theme for Assembly 2025 is “Sharpen Your Pencils.” In a world where, like Habakkuk, we may look around us and feel the pressures of the culture that surrounds us, we are called to sharpen our focus, prepare our hearts, and eagerly receive the direction and vision that God has for us, both as individuals and as a Baptist family. Just as a pencil must be sharpened, we, too, are invited to pause, reflect, and ready ourselves to listen closely to God’s calling.

Each May, rain or shine, the Multifaith Housing Initiative (MHI) hosts Tulipathon, a 3KM walkathon fundraiser at Commissioners Park. This annual event invites MHI’s 80+ faith group members, their congregations, and the wider community for a scenic walk through the tulips.
All are welcome to attend the Multifaith Housing Initiative’s Annual General Meeting. Discover the work that MHI is doing here in Ottawa to provide and promote safe, affordable, and well-maintained housing in inclusive communities, and to mobilize resources for these purposes.
